This data is compiled through years of doing Pit Bull rescue. We practice a "live and learn" type of procedure when reviewing applicants. The data compiled below has helped us place many Pit Bulls into permanent homes, with a very low return rate.

So if you review our list of requirements and feel that you fit them, then fill out an application and email it back to us. Please review the video that we have as well. It is sometimes tough to watch, but will show you why we are so passionate about what we do.

Stability: Are you in your forever home? Do you have a stable job? Are you in a stable relationship? The more you move the more in danger you are of losing your Pit Bull. Due to BSL laws, it is getting harder and harder to own a Pit Bull. Staying in one place, in one home, can cut down on Pit Bull abandonment. The number one reason dogs end up in shelters is due to their owners moving. If you get a divorce, who is taking the dog?

Financially sound: Are you finished with school? Do you have a job that is secure, and financially stable? Can you afford to pay any vet bills that may occur? Dogs get sick, they get injured, and sometimes vet bills can go into the thousands. Are you prepared to be financially responsible for your dog?

Proper home; Do you own your home? Does it have a fenced yard? How tall and secure is the fence? If your home does not have a fenced yard, what are your plans for exercising your dog? When the weather is nice it is pleasurable to walk your dog, however once the weather gets bad, it is very discouraging to get out in the elements to walk your dog. In the Pacific NW this is a fact that must be taken into account when considering adopting a Pit Bull. How will you exercise the dog during inclement weather?

Everyone on board: Every member of the family needs to be on board with adopting a Pit Bull into your family. Sneaking a pet home and springing it on a spouse is frowned upon. It is not fair to your new dog or your family, and sometimes the family member will take it out on the pet.

Number of pets in home: Raising two Pit Bulls together is no guarantee that they will love each other for a lifetime. Are you willing and able to crate and rotate for life if need be? Are you willing to accept the fact that you can never trust a Pit Bull not to fight, and to never leave a Pit Bull unattended with another pet while you are out?

Training Your Pit Bull: Are you prepared to take your new Pit Bull to obedience training classes; maybe more than once? All dogs, regardless, of breed, need structure and to know the rules. It makes them feel safer. Are you prepared to consistently be the pack leader and require your Pit Bull to obey? Are you willing to socialize your dog with lots of different people, places and dogs? A well trained, obedient, Pit Bull is an ambassador for the breed. We do not however encourage dog parks for Pit Bulls.

Thick skin: Many people have been surprised by their neighbors’ response when they have brought home a Pit Bull. Are you ready for the response you may get? Are you willing to stand up for your new dog? Every opportunity can be an educational one. Owning a sound Pit Bull and showing the public how nice they can be, is the best way to change public opinion. Remember you have every right to own a Pit Bull; however you are going to be held up to scrutiny and it is your job to make sure that your Pit Bull is never set up for failure. Never let strangers dictate to you what kind of dog you can own.
